Review: K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow

July 05, 2014
Every now and then I get complimented on my eyebrows. Honestly, I think they’re just alright. Especially since it’s impossible for me to make it grow a proper arch so they just have a simple, straight shape to them. But I guess what people are complimenting is the fact that my brows are naturally, mostly full. I have very little sparse areas, and even those are hardly that noticeable. The hairs are also already dark, so basically I can leave the house without even touching my brows (which I do on days when I’m in a hurry).

Nonetheless, I find my overall look is a lot more polished if I do fill in my brows a little. I either stick to brow powder or pencils in shades of medium or dark brown. They’re the easiest to work with for me and medium to dark brown shades give the most natural looking effect. The more natural eyebrows look, the better. That’s why I was very much excited when I got sent the K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow pens because it would be my first time to use something like this for my brows!

Product info: This revolutionary liquid eyebrow liner defines your eyebrows naturally through its remarkable “dual” flat point tip. You can choose to simultaneously shade, mark, and tint your eyebrows in an amazing long lasting way with its smudge and water-resistant polymers. This eyebrow liner is made of just the right amount of translucence such that the color is deep enough to conceal sparse areas of your eyebrow, but not too dark that it gives a severe, unforgiving tone. If you want a darker tone, just go over the same area twice or more. Suitable for everyone, from beginners to professionals! Hooray to perfect eyebrows the whole day!

Like most of K-Palette’s products, the packaging for the pens are simple and no fuss. They’re the size of your typical liquid eyeliner pen, so you can just pop it into your vanity kit for touch-ups with no trouble. The caps snap on securely each time and so far, even after more than a month, the labels haven’t rubbed off or faded.

The brush tips are very soft, flexible, and fine tipped. They look just like eyeliner pens, don’t they? Specifically the K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner pens. Both look very, very similar. In fact, I sometimes have to check the labels to make sure I’m either bringing the eyeliner or the eyebrow pen.

I like how the fine tip allows you to be super precise, particularly if you’re going to be shaping or completely drawing on your brows. For me, it makes it a lot easier to fill in the thinner ‘tail ends’ of my brows.

There are 2 shades available. 01 Natural Brown (top swatch) that’s “recommended for fair skin” and 02 Grayish Brown (bottom swatch) which is “recommended for tanned skin”.

Since the product is meant to give you the most natural looking effect possible, both shades are intentionally not very pigmented. The swatches above are actually a result of 2-3 swipes from each pen. This allows you to be able to slowly build up the intensity. If these were more pigmented, combined with the fact that this is ink you’re working with, I’m sure getting a result of overly strong looking brows would be a much more common beauty blunder.

My bare eyebrow for reference. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s shaped mostly straight with very dark hairs and sparse areas that thankfully aren’t that noticeable. When it comes to filling them in, I like to concentrate more towards the end of my brows.

With 01 Natural Brown
Almost right off the bat, I quite liked this one on me. I’ll admit, I’m used to working with and still prefer something significantly more pigmented, but I’m impressed with how this is able to give a very subtle and natural, but still visible, effect. My brows look more polished and filled in, but not obviously so.

After trying this out, it was then that I realized this is perfect for days when I’m only going to be out of the house for say a few hours or less and don’t have to look as done up. I find the shade very much suits my skin tone too, so the product’s recommendation of this being for those with fair skin is definitely accurate!

With 02 Grayish Brown
The darker shade gives a similar effect, but I’m not as big of a fan of it on me. It looks almost like a translucent black when on my brows, and we all know using black on brows of any color is a major no-no. Even if you have black brow hairs like mine! Since this is darker, it would also look much better on someone with a warmer or deeper complexion too, just like K-Palette recommends. Actually, it’s not so much that it doesn’t look as nice with my fairer complexion, more like the shade seems to make the shorter, stubbly-looking bits of my brow hair more obvious and in an unflattering way. With 01 Natural Brown, it softens their appearance instead.

Do they last all day on my brows? After all, K-Palette promises that their eye pencils and pens can stay put for up to 24 hours. Well good news because yes, they do last all day! Now I don’t know if they can last a full 24 hours because somewhere within that time I’ve already taken all my makeup off. But I’ve worn both shades for a minimum of 7-8 hours, in both an air-conditioned and hot and humid environment, and they didn’t budge! With the swatches alone, it took a good amount of hard rubbing for them to start fading. I doubt anyone would be rubbing their eyebrows raw like that in the first place. The product is also waterproof. The swatches didn’t fade with water. Fading only occurred when I started rubbing while they were still wet because the water undoubtedly weakened the formula somewhat. Then again, that’s the case with most eyebrow products I’ve tried. Even so, the swatches didn’t completely disappear and there was still some faint pigment left after so I was impressed! Will I repurchase? You bet. I won’t be reaching for the darker shade, but safe to say I’ll be picking up 01 Natural Brown as soon as my current one runs out.

Big thank you to Cheryl from Beauty Box Corp. for sending these! Be sure to check out and follow K-Palette Philippines on Instagram, Twitter, and like their Facebook page too.

WHAT I LIKE:
  • Though there are only 2 shades available, all skin tones can find the one that suits them best.
  • The brush tip is soft and very fine which allows for great accuracy and precision when shaping or filling in brows.
  • It lasts all day.
  • You can easily and slowly build up the intensity of the shades.
  • It’s smudge-proof and water-proof.
  • The formula dries quickly.
  • The shade 01 Natural Brown softens the appearance of my brow hairs, especially the shorter ones that look like unsightly stubble.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • 02 Grayish Brown makes the stubble-looking, shorter brow hairs more visible and I think it doesn't compliment my brows as much as 01 Natural Brown.

ANYTHING ELSE:
  • A little bit on the pricey side. Some might find it too expensive.
