Fifty Shades of OMG!

August 01, 2012
Unless you've been living under the biggest rock in your own back garden, then you can't deny you haven't heard of the literary sensation that is the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

Dubbed as "mommy porn", you'll find that the likes of teenage girls and young adult women have gone just as wild over it. Since the first book was published last year, and the final book published just last April, it's sparked a ton of internet memes as well as an equal amount of criticism that spans from the author's writing style to its purposeful portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle. It's also led to numerous articles debating whether or not the trilogy and its concept makes for 'healthy reading' for women in the first place (1) (2). Regardless of the stands and viewpoints on the trilogy itself, it can't be denied that it's created quite the buzz and has even gone on to beat the likes of Harry Potter as the fastest-selling paperback book of all time! (1)

Of course, following the recent trend in Hollywood these days with popular novels eventually ending up on the big screen, the first chapter is now officially being turned into a movie as well and the hunt for the actors to portray its two main protagonists; dominant, seductive billionaire Christian Grey, and innocent yet strong-willed Anastasia Steele is on!

Some weeks ago, it was "confirmed" that Matt Bomer (who plays Neal Caffrey on the popular TV series White Collar) was cast as Christian Grey, and a "cover" of Entertainment Weekly was even released. However, it was later revealed that both the news and the cover were a hoax (1) (2) (3) and fans are once again anticipating who will be the final and official casting choice for Mr. Grey himself.

Speaking of fans, a fan favorite and dream cast member to play Christian Grey is the smolderingly handsome Ian Somerhalder (who plays none other than Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries). Personally, he's my ultimate Christian Grey as well! Fingers are crossed for many girls, yours truly included of course, that we'll be seeing his name listed on the movie's IMDB page. I'm sure many are just as eager to know who will be playing Anastasia/Ana, but let's face it, the anticipation for the male lead is near overwhelming! Psst, if you really want to know though, my dream Ana is the gorgeous Lily Collins.

What do you guys think? Are you a fan of the trilogy yourself? Are you excited for the upcoming movie? Who's your dream team to play both Christian and Ana? Were you disappointed about the news of Matt Bomer being cast as fake?

Remember: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I'll be deleting any bashing or hateful comments posted here. Even if you're not a fan of Fifty Shades in any way, shape or form, you can always defend and explain yourself both intelligently and politely.
