Since the first book was published last year, and the final book published just last April, it's sparked a ton of internet memes as well as an equal amount of criticism that spans from the author's writing style to its purposeful portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle. It's also led to numerous articles debating whether or not the trilogy and its concept makes for 'healthy reading' for women in the first place (1) (2).
